Schoorl

Where can you find sand, sea and dunes bordered by beautiful old woodlands, all together in one place? Where can you ramble and cycle through the unspoilt countryside and do whatever suits your fancy, be that meandering around, finding an outdoor cafe, sunbathing or leisure shopping? Where can you easily discover peace and quiet, but also cheerful hustle and bustle or impressive art and culture all so close together? The municipality of Bergen has a lot to offer the present-day tourist. Present-day holidaymakers desire variation and Bergen can offer that: the former fishing village of Egmond, with its pleasant beach, outdoor cafes and small shops; the ‘arty’ village of Bergen with an abundance of art and culture and a beautiful beach and the village of Schoorl is perfect for those seeking a more peaceful beach and splendid woodlands and dunes. These are three places of which we can be proud, each with its own identity.

Schoorl

Schoorl is pre-eminently the place where those who love peace and quiet and nature will feel at home. The Schoorl Dunes National Park is the widest and most varied nature reserve along the coast of The Netherlands: beautiful footpaths and cycle paths which wind between dunes and polder landscape and beach access (Schoorl aan Zee) where no cars are allowed. There is also plenty to keep the children occupied, with the highest dune to be climbed in The Netherlands, plus many special activities arranged by the Forestry Commission in Schoorl.
